Questions?

It’s time to open the inbox again.

Send us your questions about UH football, and we’ll try to find the answers this week. Or, at least, we’ll give the impression we’re trying.

No injury updates, though, and we’re certain UH won’t be unveiling its strategies for the Western Carolina game.

We’ll see how this works out.

In the meantime, one of these guys should be MW player of the week:

You want to play your best players so you can’t play everbody. Some players were probably disappointed that they didn’t go in.

    Great victory!

  2. Craig S. August 27, 2017 4:19 pm

Besides Gaudion did any freshman see playing time?

  3. seewhy August 27, 2017 4:32 pm

Great road win! What will the team do to cut down on the number of penalties?

  4. Bowwar August 27, 2017 4:36 pm

ST: Welcome back! Great victory & exciting game. Is Ulu Perry in the dog house? Why didn’t Holly or one of the other RBs play aside from Tuiasoa to preserve Saint-Juste? I think the running game is more effective with a change-of-pace running back.

  5. markazulu August 27, 2017 4:48 pm

@3 Bowwar I think I heard bobby curran say ulu perry hurt his shoulder.

  6. Richard August 27, 2017 4:49 pm

On UH Defense: Why are our guys not in position prior to the snap of the football? It is not just one defensive play, but thru-out most of the game?

  7. markazulu August 27, 2017 4:55 pm

Even though its only week 0 how does it feel to have Dru brown lead the nation in passing yards, John Ursua lead the nation in receiving yards, Jahlani Tavai leading the nation in sacks and to have Solomon Matautia tied in 1st place with 1 int.

  8. H-Man August 27, 2017 5:03 pm

Is the plan to give Saint Juste the majority of the snaps for the rushing game? Or to work in other runners to share the load as players start to wear down?

  9. Honu888 August 27, 2017 5:07 pm

Awesome road win Warriors! Lots of first half penalties but great improvement in the second half.

How is Dejon Allen? I saw him with a noticeable limp coming off of the flight today. I hope its nothing serious maybe it was just the cramped aircraft seats and the long flight time coming home.

  10. WarriorNY August 27, 2017 5:11 pm

Great game guys… ST posted a picture of Pilares, Salas and Ursua a few weeks ago. I was thinking that 2010 team was one of the best group of offensive skill players we ever had (including Mo, Pollard and Green). Ursua reminded me of Pilares on Saturday for some reason. In terms of RB’s and WR’s (and TE’s), just in terms of raw talent, where do you think the ceiling is for these positions on todays team?

And thank you to whoever helped putting streaming back online for us mainland guys!

  11. WarriorNY August 27, 2017 5:23 pm

    #5, don’t forget Keelan #1 in Returns…

  12. Ipu Man August 27, 2017 5:36 pm

    Great game, coach.
Can you give us a scout report
    about your next opponent?
And will UH have a mascot?

  13. Chicken Grease August 27, 2017 6:05 pm

What is Coach Rolo going to do about discipline wih this team? # 60 alone looked very arrogant going into the locker room after being ejected from the game.

  14. Kev-1 August 27, 2017 6:06 pm

Ursua player of the game, hands down.
Dru Brown as some strengths, and I appreciate his calm focus/confidence. My question is about a concern I have about his ability as a passer:

Q: How concerned are you with Dru Brown consistently underthrowing receivers? While I understand the strategy of the back shoulder throw, he does it far too often for it to be by design. Lots of big play potential lost when receivers have to stop in their routes to come back for the ball.

  15. Richard August 27, 2017 6:26 pm

For the upcoming UCLA game. I would like to see # 85 Marcus Armstrong Brown start with the 1’s.
    Q. Cause of concern? Was it a defensive strategy to have the defensive line not in a set position prior to the snap of the ball? Notice it happens frequently in the 2nd half on Umass crucial drives?

  16. cappie the dog August 27, 2017 7:04 pm

What sort of defensive scheme was Hawaii in that would force a team(sans time-outs) to run the ball with only forty-eight odd seconds left in the game? Also, the fact that the last play of the game was a medium range pass and not a Hail Mary to the end zone?

  17. Tofuzuke August 27, 2017 7:12 pm

Great win! Warriors faced many challenges from coast to coast travel to playing in unfamiliar territory, yet they came out with a hard fought win! Coaches did an excellent job preparing the warriors both physically and mentally. We saw many Minutemen go down with injuries but not our Warriors. Kudos to Coach Bubba(?)! Defense had awesome team play and were very aggressive, protect our house! Offensively, they were confident and have many weapons yet to be displayed. Special teams showed new possibilities that will keep opponents guessing. My question is, will the Warrior fans pack Aloha Stadium???

    Rainbow Warrior 52 – Catamounts 17

  19. BigWave96744 August 27, 2017 9:11 pm

Coach Solo will you be bringing back the helmet stickers?

  20. BigWave96744 August 27, 2017 9:12 pm

    Whoa too much Star Wars..
    Coach Rolo

  21. Derek August 27, 2017 9:17 pm

MW offensive player of the week SB Brown, Ursua, or CSU QB Nick Stevens. Def. POW SB Tavai. That’s my opinion.

  22. cappie the dog August 27, 2017 9:42 pm

    14.

    No, they won’t.

I’m pretty sure that MMA is more popular than college football in Hawaii.

  23. cappie the dog August 27, 2017 9:50 pm

    I know what you’re thinking.

How are Kyle Von Ruden and Max Duval performing.

Von Ruden, a Chicago White Sox farmhand(Great Falls), gave up only two hits in eight innings against Billings. Nine strikeouts. Von Ruden has lowered his ERA to 3.56. Not bad for a guy who started the season with a 15+ earned run average.

Max Duval is 3-0 with a 2.56 ERA, thanks in part to another quality start(six innings, one earned run) against Rome. Duval had no command as a Bow(and could not hit a lick). His strikeouts to walks ratio is 31/5 in 31 innings. The Greensboro pitching coach is a genius.

  24. UH Fan for Life August 27, 2017 10:39 pm

Coach Rolo and staff, congrats on the road win. Dru looked confident on the last 2 drives and it seemed the offense felt they were going to pull off the win.

My question is what did you and your staff learn from last year’s travel routines and what did you do different on the long trip to the east coast?

  25. Maddog50 August 28, 2017 2:30 am

No questions just points-where or when did Pisa throw a punch? Answer- he didn’t. Ulu-Perry and Posa played well. A awful lot of stuff goes on in the trenches. My only OL observation is hey we’re all a little jumpy. Everything taken into consideration travel being the biggest this is a good win period. All the stuff penalties missed assignment etc will get cleaned up. Here is hoping for a healthy roster this week including Fred who should grade out high for the time he played, sat out a year, missed spring and dealt with health issues-hats off to him!

  26. boolakanaka August 28, 2017 5:49 am

Word on the street is that Rigo Sanchez beats out the incumbent in Colts camp (they just released their vet Jeff Locke)—-cheeeeeeeee!!!

  27. Akamai Okole August 28, 2017 6:02 am

    Great Morning All!

If healthy, what would it take to move #64 to a Guard position?

    Das it

  28. gobows34 August 28, 2017 7:24 am

Coach Rolo, how do you and your staff deal with players who are unhappy with lack of playing time? I noticed bad body language of some players that looked unhappy because they were not getting much PT.

    Go Warriors!

  31. Warbow August 28, 2017 9:59 am

How many and who true freshmen made the travel squad?

  32. Inyoface August 28, 2017 10:14 am

Was the ref’s taking so long on making a decision a burden?

  33. Raider Dogs August 28, 2017 10:27 am

Congrats to Rigo Sanchez for making the colts 53 man roster. They just cut Jeff locke a guy they had paid 3 mil to kick for them but Rigo out punted him in preseason.

  34. tom-warriornation August 28, 2017 10:39 am

Chris Gaskill, former UH receiver #88 (1984-88) will be joining our group at UCLA; come meet him there! Also sitting with us will be former UH greats Jeff Duva, Greg Cummins, the legend Gary Allen, Nicky Clark, David Toloumu, Kody Afusia, Tim Grasso (punter from 2007 team), Cliff Sanchez, Murray Cassidy, Frank Strong, and the parents of backup QB Cole McDonald & former kicker Tyler Hadden.

  35. TOM-warriornation August 28, 2017 10:48 am

Boya_jr is my Vice President of Warrior Nation. Yes, GO WARRIORS!

  36. cappie the dog August 28, 2017 10:58 am

I realize nobody wants to hear this crap but I can’t help myself.

    At least I don’t proselytize.

There is a beautiful irony that Rigoberto Sanchez made the Colts roster because Indiana was the state in which Donald Trump said an Indiana-born Mexican judge could not rule fairly on the civil fraud lawsuit concerning Trump University.

    Good job Indiana.

    Good job Rigoberto.

Even if you were not personally upset, I was, when Lou Holtz spoke to the team.

  37. NotNasti August 28, 2017 11:04 am

Grease, you would be upset too if you were ejected for (not) throwing a punch.

My question: Would you consider running sweeps or swing passes to St. Juste in order to take advantage of his speed?

  38. cappie the dog August 28, 2017 11:06 am

By “you”, I mean Sanchez, not the people who post on the message board.
